Elementary

Grades Primary-6

Millbrook First Nation is committed to supporting children and families throughout their elementary school journey. From registration and daily transportation to school supplies and after-school care, our Educational Services team works with families, schools, and community partners to ensure that every student has the tools they need to thrive.

For parents and guardians

  • Parents and guardians register their children through their provincial school district. Registration and updates are completed using the province’s online portal (for example, Nova Scotia uses PowerSchool). Public schools typically require a birth certificate, health card, and vaccination records.

Children enrolling at the Millbrook Early Education Centre (MEEC) follow a separate process: parents or guardians complete an MEEC application form.

  • Millbrook First Nation operates a fleet of five school buses serving students within the community’s catchment area. Courtesy bussing is provided for students attending Millbrook Early Education Centre, Truro Elementary School, Truro Middle School, Cobequid Education Centre, and Colchester Christian Academy.

Families should contact the Educational Services Programs Coordinator to confirm eligibility and routes. Bus drivers keep parents updated on route changes, weather-related delays, and other important notices. The Millbrook First Nation Official Facebook page also shares real-time bussing updates.

  • Millbrook First Nation offers an annual subsidy of $125.00 to help families cover the cost of books and school supplies in September . A separate lunch subsidy is also available to support students who require special diets and have been approved according to prescription or the direction of a dietitian, family doctor or pediatrician. An annual application is required and to be submitted BY July 15th of each year. Late applications will NOT receive subsidies for September and will be on a wait list for processing.

  • After-school care is available only for Millbrook Early Education Centre (MEEC) students. However, subsidies may be available to help with the cost of other after-school care arrangements.
